Ship Time Request Overview

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Project Description and Facility Requirements
Project Web Page:
Summary of Field Work: The cruise plan will be to go to 8 stations along a transect from Cape Cod to Cape Hatteras. We anticipate 7 coastal sites, with water depths in the realm of 50 m. We plan to also have one station off shelf for a deep depth gradient, approximately 2000 m in depth. Once on station, measurements of ROS, Hg and other ancillary biological and geochemical measurements will be made over the course of the day. To meet our objective to target diel variability, water will be collected via rosette and analyzed at 7 times during the day – ~0400, 0630, 0930, 1230, 1530, 1930, 2230. In the afternoon, water will also be collected for intensive laboratory incubations the following day while steaming to the next station.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Ocean class vessel capable of shelf/slope work.
