Summary of Field Work: |
JSL submersible in years 2 and 3. Alvin/Atlantis would be suitable alternative if available |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
For the year-three cruise in the Gulf of Mexico, we have requested an early fall cruise of 10 science days. However, because of disjunct spawning times of the organisms we will work on, the ideal schedule would involve two shorter (5 science day) cruises, one in late summer (August) and one in mid-winter (January or February). If there were other legs in these time periods with which we could coordinate, we would prefer the two shorter cruises. Otherwise, we are faced with the prospect of collecting winter spawners early and maintaining them alive for several months. We hope to work closely with the ship operator to optimize our chances for success in the third year. |
