Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Funding Agencies: NAVY/ONR/OAS - N000014-08-1-0843 - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Suspended acoustic source transmissions, towed source transmissions, deep CTDs, and towed CTD Chain survey
Summary of Facility Requirements: Working A-frame, full ocean depth CTD system, Hdrographic Doppler Sonar, dynamic positioning, 100-Amp 240-Volt 3-phase power, multi-beam sonar, sub-bottom profiler, working main deck crane
Summary of other requirements and comments: The experimental work is entirely within International waters.
We will want to connect a leased C-Nav GPS system to the ship's navigation and dynamic positioning system as we did last year on the Melville.

Repeating Cruise?
(within same year)
No Interval:   # of Cruises:

Description of Repeating cruise requirements:
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations:
Mercer's cruise must occur directly after Worcester's cruise. We will be placing two 20-ft. vans on the main deck and storing two 20-ft. vans elsewhere aboard ship. We will also be placing a large winch the size of a 20-ft. van on the main deck.
