Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Arctic ECS Mapping  -  2009  -  USCGC Healy
  Project Information
Project Title: Mapping in the high Arctic in support of a potential U.S. extended continental shelf. Support of CCG Vessel Louis St. Laurent in collection of seismic data in support of U.S and Canadian ECS issues. Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: Larry A. Mayer, UNH Project Institution: UNH
Project ID: 101565 Version #: 5
Date Submitted: 6/5/2008 11:02:00 AM Created By: Larry A. Mayer
Date Last Modified: 1/28/2009 12:27:00 PM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NOAA - NONE - Funded
Summary of Field Work: We will be mapping in the high-Arctic to define the foot of the continental slope and other features needed to establish the limits of the continental shelf as defined under UNCLOS Article 76. We will also be breaking ice for the Canadian Coast Guard Cutter Louis St. Laurent while it collects seismic data. We may also sample the seafloor with dredges or corers as needed.
Summary of Facility Requirements: ICEBREAKER, multibeam sonar, high-resolution subbottom profiler, winches and cables capable of supporting dredging and coring in deep (4000 m) water, dredges, good comms with Louis St. Laurent.

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements We will have a mapping team that requires 2-3 MBES support technicians from outside our group. There will be USGS mapping support on board too. There may be several other ancillary programs - ice buoy deployment (NIC), HARP Buoy deployment (SIO) and AUS operations (UofAlaska)
