Summary of Field Work: |
This project will acquire a 11 x 55 km volume of 3D seismic reflection data to examine the 3D structure of the Costa Rica convergent margin near Osa peninsula. The goal is to examine the structures and rock properties associated with the downdip transtion into the seismogenic zone along the plate interface. This project is in support of the IODP CRISP deep riser drilling program and the MARGINS-SEIZE initiative. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We request 30 days for the R/V Langseth to use in 3D seismic mode. We will use 4-5,000 m streamers with 150 m separation. We will use the full acoustic navigation for streamer location. We will shoot in dual source mode at 25 m intervals and record for 9 sec. |

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements |
We need sufficient technicians to conduct the proposed 3D operations. This will include observers, airgun techs, navigators and computer techs. I don't know what Lamont expects to provide for 3D programs, but it will have to be discussed prior to the cruise. |
