STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. Summary of Field Work: Annually service (deploy or turnaround or recover) subsurface moorings on the Alaskan Beaufort shelf at 152W, and do a hydrographic survey of the boundary current. There is also ancillary mooring work that we do for other programs (including international PIs).

Description of Op Area: The mooring work occurs in the vicinity of Barrow Canyon and the continental shelf/slope of the Alaskan Beaufort Sea as far east as 152W. The CTD work area extends from the northeast Chukchi Sea to the Canadian Beaufort Sea as far east as 135W.

It is my understanding that one of the ports needs to be Dutch Harbor, AK. This is the reason for the 4 transit days. If we can embark and disembark in Barrow, then the transit days are not needed. However, if both the start and end ports need to be Dutch Harbor, then 8 transit days will be necessary.

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements The science party will supply the mooring and instrument technicians and the CTD watchstanders and water samplers. It is assumed that the ship will supply the CTD hardware technician (in addition to the LDEO support technicians).
