Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
|
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
I have added one science day to the request. At the time we made this request, it was my impression that a science day was a day at sea. However, as days are counted in these requests, the final science day begins at 8:00 am at the dock. (That day does can not be used for science and so should not be counted as a science day.) The math on the 13 days is thus: 12 days of science operations at sea plus one day, the 29th day, spent at the dock. Note that due to our expectation of good weather (we were hoping for a summer-time cruise) I budgeted only 2 days of contingency, which is small for a recovery cruise of short duration (where 1 day makes a big difference). We are now in the worst possible weather window for this location. |
