Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Funding Agencies: NSF-OOI/OOI - NONE - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Operations and Maintenance activity of secondary infrastructure at Axial Seamount and Hydrate Ridge on the Juan de Fuca Plate.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Use of the R/V Thomas G. Thompson to meet berthing and layout requirements
Summary of other requirements and comments: Transmission of live video from ship to shore-shore. Use of ROV with heavy lift capabilities (4000 lbs) to maintain secondary nodes, must also be able to lay cable, install sensors. For cost and mobilization efficiency the cruise should be scheduled as back to back with one of the OOI-Construction cruises to either Axial or Hydrate Ridge
