Summary of Field Work: |
Multibeam mapping of areas north of the Chukchi Cap (Nautilus Basin), southern and northern sides of Alpha/Mendeleev Ridge into Makarov Basin. Mapping will be in collaboration with Canadian icebreaker Louis S. St. Laurent. If conditions permit we will meet Swedish Icebreaker ODEN (working for Denmark) with Russian icebreaker for sampling program on Lomonosov Ridge. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
HEALY, multibeam, coring and dredging, possibly WHOI ROV and/or Navy AUV |

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements |
We will have mapping specialist and possibly ROV team from WHOI. If Navy AUV is brought along there will be a Navy AUV team |

|
Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
Multibeam is essential. ROV may require dynamic positioning. Dredging and coring will be backup to ROV sampling. Seismic is Knudsen chirp subbottom.
|
|
|
Explain Major Ancillary Facilities Requirements and list description and provider for "other" systems. |
NAVY may deploy HUGIN AUV WHOI ROV may be used |
