Repeating Cruise?
(within same year) |
Yes |
Interval: |
4 month |
# of Cruises: |
2 |
|
Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
We want the first cruise (5 days) in late spring/early summer, around April, 2011. We want the second cruise (another 5 days) in late fall, around October 2011. |
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
We are requesting time on the R/V Savannah for two cruises, one during Spring 2011 and a second during fall 2011, from Savannah, GA east to the Gulf Stream and back. This cruise track will let us extend our observations offshore and give us access to a wide range of coastal waters (eutrophic, turbid, rich in POC and DOC), shelf water (potentially eutrophic, lower in DOC), slope water (phytoplankton blooms) and oligotrophic Gulf Stream water. Sampling at two distinct season (late spring and early fall) will provide insights into the seasonal variation of the flux and concentration of polyamine in seawater, a organic nitrogen that are thought to be mainly derived from phytoplankton. |

Short Description of Op Area
for use in schedules: |
NA06 |
Description of Op Area: |
The route for each cruise will be triangle, start from Savannah GA to (30 deg 30 min N, 78 deg W) to (30 deg 20 min N, 81 deg 20 min W) and back to Savannah GA. |
