Summary of Field Work: |
Cruises will take place in autumn of 2011, 2013 and 2015, timed to minimize the probability of encountering ice while remaining in the early autumn window for good weather.
Operations will include servicing an array of 9 subsurface moorings and 6 shelf sites across the Davis Strait, deployment and recovery of autonomous gliders and a hydrographic survey that spans the from the Northern Labrador Sea to Southern Baffin Bay. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We request a global-class vessel, preferably R/V Knorr, for 20 days in autumn 2011, 2013 and 2015. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
Global class vessel requested for seakeeping abilities, as we typically must work through periods of bad weather. |

|
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Need Sep-Oct window to minimize ice cover while still retaining good weather. Global class vessel requested for continued operations through bad weather. Long, successful history of working with Knorr in the region motivates request to continue working from this platform. |
