Summary of Field Work: |
The field work for this project will be conducted during two cruises: 1) 7 days, Bermuda to Bermuda in late-winter/early spring of 2011, and 2) WHOI to WHOI, 14 days in late spring of 2012. During these cruises we will conduct water column sampling with CTD/rosette and also deploy sediment traps. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We will require: CTD with fluorometer, transmissometer, PAR sensor, and rosette of 20 L Niskin bottles; large clear deck access, A-frame, capstan and bridge navigational support for sediment trap deployment/recovery. We will also require space for UNOLS radioisotope van. |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
|
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Our goal with this cruise is to occupy two stations for a period of 5 days each: one station at about 40N 65W, and one at 35N 65W (we have some flexibility in the exact location). At these stations we will conduct a series of 24 hour trap deployments with water column sampling in between. |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
We will request a radioisotope van. We will use 3H for bacterial production and 33P to assess phosphorus cycling dynamics.
