Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Ship choice is based on location, cruise duration, and number of personnel needed. A larger ship would work just as well. |

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements |
Rathburn has served many times as a multicorer technician on Scripps and WHOI vessels; We would need a technician for CTD operations; We will need the maximum science party personnel for on board sample processing. |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
Our primary operations are multicoring and CTD operations. We plan multiple (at least 3) multicorer lowerings and one CTD cast at each of 7 stations. Good bathymetric profiling will be important (3.5 KHz would be good). The R/V R.G. Sproul would work fine; a larger ship would also work well and enable us to CTD and multicore efficiently.
