Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Summary of Field Work: This shiptime is required for installation and maintenance of our international observatory. We intend to deploy the ROV ROPOS and therefore need to install the deep water LARS system, and will need on the order of 25 berths between ROPOS and Scientific crew. Ideally the cruise would be Victoria-Victoria with ROPOS mobilized in Victoria.

Locations: NEPTUNE Canada footprint (Barkley Canyon, Endeavour Ridge, ODP 1027 and 889, Folger Passage)

Repeating Cruise?
(within same year)
Yes Interval: 3 months # of Cruises: 2

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: (Jan. 12th, 2010)
We'll be looking at approximately 40 days of shiptime total, probably split into 2 20 day cruises - ideally one late May and one early September. Some of this need may be met by the CCGS Tully, however that is not guaranteed, so for now I would pencil in the full request. These would be ROPOS cruises for equipment deployment and maintenance.
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations:
Ability to deploy ROV ROPOS and significant amount of equipment, DP.
