Summary of Field Work: |
This cruise will aim to collect geological and biological samples from the San Diego formation on a one day student cruise. The students are a part of the Focus on the Future program (organized by Birch Aquarium at Scripps (BAS), working in partnership with UCSD’s Academic Connections (AC) program). They will work with SIO staff and graduate students to deploy and recover instruments and look at and process collected samples. Samples will also be used in scientific research by the SIO staff and graduate students, once back on shore. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We are requesting the us for the R/V Robert Gordon Sproul for one day for the recovery of core samples (box and/or multicorer), plankton net trawl, Van Veen grab and CTD cast. We will need one operator provided resident technician to assist in the deployment and recovery of the instruments. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
The availability of food and drinks on this cruise would also be very helpful for us. |
