Deployment and recovery of a large, deep-diving AUV designed for fisheries acoustic sampling along with ship-based fisheries acoustics instruments, net tows, line fishing, and CTDs |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Maneuverable research vessel capable of deployment of the AUV off the side using a crane, ability to continously sample near idle speeds, a single trawl whinch and at least 2500 m of wire with a working limit greater than 2000 pounds. |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
Maneuverability for AUV deployment and recovery are essential. Vessel must be capable of extended (e.g multiple days) idle speed operations without need for engine maintenance. Must also have low acoustic noise and limited bubble sweep down 1-2 m below the hull of the aft deck.
