Summary of Field Work: |
The cruise plan will be to go to 8 stations along a transect from Cape Cod to Cape Hatteras. We anticipate 7 coastal sites, with water depths in the realm of 50 m. We plan to also have one station off shelf for a deep depth gradient, approximately 2000 m in depth. Once on station, measurements of ROS, Hg and other ancillary biological and geochemical measurements will be made over the course of the day. To meet our objective to target diel variability, water will be collected via rosette and analyzed at 7 times during the day – ~0400, 0630, 0930, 1230, 1530, 1930, 2230. In the afternoon, water will also be collected for intensive laboratory incubations the following day while steaming to the next station. |
