Summary of Field Work: |
Deployments require deep water (~1000m), such as that available in the San Diego trough. Measurements would ideally take place under clear, sunny skies.
Two or three deployments per day, each lasting approximately three hours. Ship will hold position and instrument will be lowered to starting depth, then to successive depths at specified intervals. After reaching maximum depth, instrument will be retrieved. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Custom instrument package (including deep sea light meters, transmissometer, and CTD) is deployable using ship CTD winch. Maximum depth will be between 700m and 800m. Instrument is tethered but acquires data autonomously. |

Description of Op Area: |
All operations should be done over approximately 1000m depth in the San Diego trough. We may transit to different stations between deployments. However, there will only be two or three deployments per day, so we will likely not go too far. |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
Instrument package will be deployed using CTD winch. Deployments will be much the same as CTD deployments, except that depths will be held at regular intervals, and the system will acquire data autonomously.
|
|
|
Explain Major Ancillary Facilities Requirements and list description and provider for "other" systems. |
CTD winch is the only facility that will be required. |
