Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations:
All six moorings have been in water nore than 1 and half years by the time when we will pick them up, and batteries in moored ADCPs will last until July 2015. Moorings are 90 nm apart or 8 hours transit time between two moorings. Please schedule after Jenifer MacKinnon's, J/SIO -- ASIRI cruise in Bay of Bengal. Transit from another foreign port to the requested Colombo port is not included in the estimated transit time above.

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements We may operate 24 hours in some days; at least one Res. Tech and one compute tech. are required, We will use significant sections of the back deck. TSP winch from the UNOLS winch pool. Several CTD casts with bolltes, and some bio-optical/VMP profiling and plankton tows (upper 50 m), depending upon the availibity of time after the recovery of moorings..
