Summary of Field Work: |
We will investigate the ecosystem effects of a warm water event in the California Current one year after its onset. The work will take place at Nine Mile Bank, west of San Diego over four days in June or July. Two overnight transects crossing the bank will be composed of 6 CTD stations with bongo net tows between stations. MOCNESS tows will be done along the feature. A Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP) survey will be conducted. Otter trawls and manta tows will also take place in the area. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We will need a MOCNESS and a CTD rosette. |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
|
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
We have requested ship days through the UC Ship Funds program, which only supports the Sproul in 2015. We request a June or July cruise to coincide with the seasonal presence of blue whales in the study area and to fall approximately one year after a previous cruise. We will need two mob days for setup of a pole mounted EK60 and a moving vessel profiler. |
