Summary of Field Work: |
Examination of aerobic respiration, ammonia oxidation, and nitrite oxidation in the oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) of the eastern tropical North Pacific (ETNP). This work will consist of two cruises to/from San Diegeo and Mexico transiting the ETNP. Stations follow previous work in the ETNP and are located within reasonable distance from shore. 3 days will be spent at each of seven stations, with 0.5-1.5 days transit between each station. Sampling will consist of CTD/rosette measurements/sampling followed by in situ and shipboard incubations. One cruise is requested for winter-spring 2017 and another for summer 2018 |
