Summary of Field Work: |
We propose one cruise that will take place approximately 12 months into the project (~February 2017). The cruise will include 12 dives with ROV Jason or DSV Alvin, to allow time for a total of 4 deployments of the Vent-Submersible Incubation Device (Vent-SID) as well as ancillary sampling collection at the 9°46’N to 9°53’N segment of the East Pacific Rise (EPR). In particular, we propose to focus our efforts on studying two diffuse-flow vent sites, ‘Crab Spa’ and ‘Teddy Bear’. |
