Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Repeating Cruise?
(within same year)
No Interval:   # of Cruises:

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: N/A
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations:
We have used the RG Sproul many times to sample these sites in the past. The New Horizon would be an alternative. We require 2 days on station. Sproul schedules are 24-hour windows (full day, not partial day), so add one more day if we are scheduled with a ship that does not do 24-hour days. In sum, with Sproul if we depart at 0800 hrs and return by 0800 hours the next day, that is one day, not two.

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements Because we are on station for such a short period, we work long days (about 14-16 hours). It is best if we have 2 SIO ResTechs.
