Summary of Field Work: |
At 12 sites in the Gulf of Maine: collection of sediment multi-cores, CTD/water column sampling, MOCNESS plankton tows. May aim to collect one gravity core in Jordan Basin (site #8) if radiocarbon dating reveals a temporal gap between existing multi and piston cores at that location (WHOI core repository). |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Multi-corer, hydrocast (Niskin rosette, CTD), MOCNESS, appropriate winch/wire for all of the above. Possible gravity corer. |

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements |
Science party includes PI, 4 collaborators, 5 students, 2 student-media/documentarians, 2 techs. PI Allen has experience with multi-coring, gravity coring, and hydrocasts (most recently: RV Armstrong cruise Fall 2017 with PI Lloyd Keigwin), but additional technical assistance is needed with winch operation and MOCNESS. |
