Summary of Field Work: |
2 x 5 days (total 10 days) in 2019 for engineering trials and training to best prepare the HOV Alvin for funded science cruises. Our request is two fold: (1) first one will be a collaborative engineering cruise with the Atlantis SSSG after the Atlantis coming out of shipyard work/prior to Sylvan cruise. We would like to request 5 funded days, including 3 Alvin dive days; (2) the second one will be 5-days Alvin shake-down cruise prior to Hansell cruise. Because of a rather long system operations hiatus between the Sylvan and Hansell cruises, we would like to request 5 dive days to best prepare the submersible for Hansell cruise as this shake-down model has been proven very well in 2018 prior to Kurz cruise. Dive site can be chosen near the ports of call associated with open availability of RV Atlantis (to minimize transit time/distance to the dive sites). Ideal dive depths will be >70 meter up to 4500m (if available) |
