Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Scientific radar installed on Sally Ride is unique to the UNOLS fleet. This cruise will support the measurement of RF propagation in the marine atmospheric boundary layer through use of ship deployed wave-propelled surface wave gliders, and transmit receivers onboard the vessel. Operations are to take place in the footprint of a Scripps operated high frequency radar network deployed in the island group of Palau so controlled signals can be received by the RF receivers, and used in the data analysis. |
