Summary of Field Work: |
Project requires one cruise to the Axial Volcano Area. The cruise is best done as a cooperative project with other research projects at Axial Volcano which is a major target of ongoing ridge research and the site of OOI nodes. The leg involves deploying three instruments to test the instrumentation. We require four days of Jason time. These days can be from a few days to about a week apart. The location within Axial Volcano for the deployments is flexible. Timing late summer 2020, or late Spring, summer 2021. Instruments are deployed/recovered using elevators. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Leg1 Summer 2020, multiple deployments of 3 instruments, uses 4 days of Jason |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
Late summer 2020 or late spring, early summer 2021 |
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
just need time to get instruments built/tested. Late summer is the earliest feasible time. |
