Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Project Title: Development and Field Testing of a Lift-Assisted Moored Profiler: LAMP Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: John M. Toole, WHOI Project Institution: WHOI
Project ID: 106520 Version #: 1
Date Submitted: 6/18/2019 11:03:00 AM Created By: John M. Toole
Date Last Modified: 6/18/2019 11:03:00 AM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NSF/OCE/OTIC - 7668649 - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Two 4-day cruises are requested to deploy and then recover a tall mooring in the Gulf Stream SE of New England to test the prototype Lift Assisted Moored Profiler instrument. Ideally the deployment will be at least 6 months in duration.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Mooring deployment equipment (TSE winch, tuggers, various blocks and hooks). Crane for overboarding operations. CTD equipped with 12 x 10-liter rosette bottles.
Summary of other requirements and comments: We request some flexibility in sailing dates to finesse weather restrictions.

Owing to prior commitments of the WHOI mooring team, the preferred cruise periods are deployment in October 2019 and recovery in April/May, 2020. Fallback options are deployment in Spring 2020 with recovery late in that calendar year.
