Summary of Field Work: |
Ship time for this cruise was awarded as part of the WHOI Internal Ship Time call for proposals for R/V Neil Armstrong in 2019. Science objectives are to 1) perform CTDs to validate stand-alone salinity sensors and the Armstrong Active Heave compensation system, 2) deploy/recover an X-Spar buoy, 3) perform underway testing of the EcCTD, and 4) perform a bathymetric survey for Multibeam calibration. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
The PIs of this project kindly ask for use of the following equipment: 1) a CTD/rosette with sufficient backup parts, 2) two salinometers with salt sample bottles, 3) ability to utilize the Armstrong Active Heave Compensation on the main CTD arm, 4) use of the crane or A-frame for deployment/recovery of a 14 ft long drifting buoy, 5) deck space for storage of buoy, 6) deck space and power for a small winch on the fantail, 7) use of the Multibeam and other underway bathymetric systems. |
