Summary of Field Work: |
Proposal is requesting 4 days of RV CARSON ship time, beginning with a two contiguous days in January 2020 and two additional contiguous days in late March 2020, depending on ship schedules. Project would deploy a small Phantom Remotely Operated Vehicle within Puget Sound during those cruise days. Four additional days would be needed for staging the ROV at the UW campus dock. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Four days of at-sea ship time, in 2 contiguous time blocks. The ROV to be used is a small Phantom vehicle, with rental costs within the PI budget proposal |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
requires minimum of 7 kilowatt electrical generator with 240 volt at 60 cycle power and a compressed air generator. |

|
Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
To allow for sampling of gas emission sites, we are requesting two 2-day cruises, with the first in January 2020, and the second 2-day cruise in March 2020 |
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
There are two key operating sites within Puget Sound and the ROV work at each site needs a single day. The second operating days in March is to study the variability of the plume emissions within the tectonic Episodic Tremor and Slip cycle for the Cascadia forearc. |
