Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Summary of Field Work: We propose two 1 day cruises on the RV Robert Gordon Sproul to introduce students to different aspects of oceanographic research and to provide samples for laboratory study during shore-based part of the course.
The cruises need to be on the same weekend with the following elements (1) Plankton (bongo net) haul; (2) Otter trawl near the Coronado bank ~ 400 meters, (depth switched each day); (3) Multicore near Coronado Banks at ~700 meters, (depth switched each day); (4) Midwater trawl.; (5) Van Veen grab/s on Coronado Bank at 450-500 m.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Plankton net with 333 mesh net, Van Veen grab; otter trawl, IKMT, Multicore
