STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning ( Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. Summary of Field Work: Collecting and observing mesopelagic organisms and conducting carbon flux and microbial diversity measurements in the slope waters off southern New England as part of WHOI's Ocean Twilight Zone project. We will use several techniques for this work, including CTD/rosette casts, net tows, towed vehicle operations (Stingray / ISIIS), pumping water from depth, sediment trap arrays, and carbon flux drifters (Minions, TZEX).
Summary of Facility Requirements: We will require CTD/rosette, winch with fiber optic cable, ADCP, EK80 (highly desired), and other standard sensors (flow through, met, etc.). The science party will provide all other equipment, including nets, tow sled, deep water pumps, laboratory equipment.
