Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Summary of Field Work: This is a request for Wecoma that must be coordinated with the NOAA ship Ka'Imimoana servicing leg for the 0, 140W TAO mooring. The shiptime will be used for turbulence/acoustics profiling at the 0 140W mooring to support moored microstructure devices deployed there. The requested Wecoma ship time should immediately FOLLOW redeployment of the 0,140W mooring. This is an amendment of an original request for 4d profiling time on the NOAA ship KA'IMIMOANA in spring/08 as part of the redployment of TAO moorings there. This request includes 12d travel time from HNL to 0, 140w to result in 18d total on station. I have communicated with my program manager (Eric Itsweire, NSF) and he agrees that the longer request would be beneficial to the project. It is possible for us to use the Kilo Moana if Wecoma unavailable. ADCP required. We will add additional acoustic measurements in transducer well.
