Summary of Field Work: |
We will supply custom couplers, cables etc. for accessing pressure loggers on borehole observatories, as during earlier expeditions. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
This request replaces request 20050817121805PK. NSF would like to fund just the engineering aspects of the original proposal, so we are preparing budgetary and other revisions accordingly. Instead of the full scientific program originally proposed (with 46 days over three dive expeditions), we wish to take two (2) dives to check on the quality of borehole seals using either Alvin or Jason, ideally in advance of drilling tentatively scheduled for summer 2008. The drilling schedule is not yet set, but we would ideally finish checking the seals in time to adjust drilling plans as needed. |
