Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Principal Investigator: James R. Ledwell, WHOI Project Institution: WHOI
Project ID: 102036 Version #: 4
Date Submitted: 6/5/2009 10:14:00 AM Created By: James R. Ledwell
Date Last Modified: 1/5/2010 3:40:00 PM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NAVY - N00014-09-1-0175 - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Measure optical properties of upper ocean; coordinate with airborne LIDAR sensing.
Test AUV T-REMUS (Lou Goodman) in upper ocean.
Test distrubance of dye patch by towed instruments.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Regional-size ship with capacity for c. 12 scientists for 7 days, with three different operations, and a fair amount of equipment. CTD winch and tow point. Small boat for AUV operations.
Summary of other requirements and comments: My grant is just a small part of the overall ONR DRI, which is called "Scalable Lateral Mixing and Coherent Tutbulence". 2010 and later years are expected to be funded in due course.
