Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
|
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Shiptime request to recover moorings that are planned to be deployed as part of a CTD/LADCP cruise on the French vessel R/V A'talante in the southeast monsoon season in July 2012.
The rational for the timing of this shiptime request is to 1. recover the moorings after 12-18 months deployment 2. obtain CTD measurements during the opposite phase of the monsoon season (Northwest monsoon, NDJF) |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
Deep mooring recoveries (9 moorings) in narrow passages of the Solomon Sea, expect swift currents (> 2m/s). Winches and aft A-frame required for deployments. ~100 CTD/LADCP and hydrography stations planned in Solomon Sea region.
