Summary of Field Work: |
Deploy 3-4 floating buoys with hydrophones to receive signals from an acoustic source as the buoys drift with the currents. Monitor the environment while transmitting (CTD's, ADCP, bathymetry, surface conditions, etc.) Collect sediment data (gravity cores and sediment grabs). |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
One regional class vessel for a period of approximately one month to deploy buoys in an area northwest of Key West, FL. Approximate dates are 03/07/2011 to 04/07/2011. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
Gravity cores adn sediment grabs. If possible, would like a vessel with MBES, 3.5 kHz subbottom profiler, and EK-500 or equivalent. |

Explanation of Science Party Requirements and Technician Requirements |
Science operations will include (1) deploying and recovering relatively small floating buoys (easy), (2) possibly suspending an acoustic source over the side (back up plan only), (3) CTD's, and (4) collecting data from shipborne systems (MBES, EK-500, subbottom profiler if available). |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
MBES, EK-500 and subbottom profiler would be nice, but we can discuss the options, based on what ships are available
