21 days of shiptime with Jason ROV to dive on and sample two (or more) hydrothermal fields recently discovered on the Mid Cayman Rise including Piccard - the world's deepest vent-site at 5000m (and maybe also the hottest at >480C) - and Von Damm, a new shallow and low temperature ultramafic-hosted site on top of the Mt Dent oceanic core complex. |

We anticipate: (i) a team of 12 scientists from the US funded by our NSF proposal; (ii) a team of 4 from National Geographic Television and (iii) a team of 6 collaborators, space permitting, from the UK. We anticipate a 10-strong team from the NDSF in support of Jason = 32 berths total. |
