Summary of Field Work: |
The DSV ALVIN will be used to collect sediment push core samples in the vicinity of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and at a nearby natural cold seep, MC118. These three dives are essential for collecting documenting the condition of the seafloor around the wellhead and to permit targeted sampling of sedimented oil on the seafloor. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
The project requires three days of shiptime on the R/V Atlantis and three dives in the DSV Alvin. I request that these three dives be added at the end of my existing Atlantis/Alvin cruise, which is scheduled for November 2010. |
