Summary of Field Work: |
On all expedtions we will use the CTD/Rosette system to test new and commercially viable builds of a sensor for particulate inorganic carbon. During the last two expedtions we will be deploying and recovering multiple autonomous free instruments called Carbon Explorers (profiling floats that will carry sensors for particulate properties) that will profile to 1000 m depths. Work will start in sheltered waters and then graduate to the California Current. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
CTD Rosette system: 12x 10L samplers for SPROUL or equivalent; 24x 10L samplers for medium ship. O2 sensor and fluorometer; we will supply other sensors - need at least 4 analog inputs open. Small boat recovery of instruments may be required. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
Ports (San Diego) for Sproul; Medium ship time in Cal. Current.
Ship time has been already been requested and funded under an allied NSF/OCE/OTIC project "Carbon Flux Explorer Development". OCE 0936143. |
