Summary of Field Work: |
Multibeam and single beam sonar mapping and classification of benthic and water column habitats of the outer shelf, slope, and canyons in the mid-Atlantic region of the northeastern U.S., and characterization of their use by fisheries resource species and those harboring deepwater corals and sponges through the use of oceanographic sampling and visual ground-truthing. Included is the optimization for habitat survey data collection methods to produce products usable for management purposes.
HabCam system will also be used |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Multibeam sonar w/water column & bathymetric capabilities, multi-freq single beam sonar, ADCP. CTD mounted in rosette sampler with 5 liter Niskin bottles |
