Summary of Field Work: |
The deployment of an experimental mooring in the Florida Straits. The objective is to gather a ~3-month timeseries of the local wave field and current field using an in-situ instrument. This data will be used to improve model forecasts and calibrate a land-based high frequency radar instrument. A deployment (1-day of work) of a Nortek Acoustic Wave and Current Profiler on a subsurface mooring approx. 15-km offshore of Miami, FL is required in April and the recovery will take place sometime in early August. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Require the use of the ship's A-frame and crane for deployment of the mooring. A shipboard ADCP and CTD rosette for making transects around the location of deployment. |
