Summary of Field Work: |
Characterization of the thermal sensitivity of developing embryos of Antarctic notothenioid fishes. Field experiments will be performed at Palmer Station, Antarctica. Gravid fish will be collected by bottom trawling and trapping from the ARSV Laurence M. Gould. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We will need the Dush-11 with 9/16 inch mechanical wire, the stern A-frame, Rock Hopper nets, traps, and a pot hauler. |

Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
My project requires that I catch gravid specimens of two fish species, the Blackfin Icefish and the Bullhead Notothen. The former is gravid in march-April, while the latter is gravid in May and early June. Thus, I need to fish between March 15 and June 5. |

Short Description of Op Area
for use in schedules: |
Antarctic Penin |
Description of Op Area: |
The Laurence M. Gould will be used for fishing operations (bottom trawling and trap fishing) west of Brabant Island (East Dallmann Bay, 64 deg 10' S, 62 deg 40' W) or south of Low Island (63 deg 25' S, 62 deg 15'W) in the Southern Bransfield Strait. We will also fish sites near King George Island (61 deg 46' S, 58 deg 34' W), Elephant Island, and Lavoisier Island. |
