Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Summary of Field Work: Request 2 days of R/V Savannah ship time for the deployment of bottom mooring with 5 beam adcp and nearby CT chain at 40m isobath just north of Cape Hatteras. Hope to deploy at the end of July or beginning of Sept. 2015, when the R/V Savannah will be in the vicinity on other business. Have discussed with July PI Martial Talliefert (GT) and he has consented.
Summary of Facility Requirements: A-frame with 300lb capacity and shipboard CTD.

Requested Ship, Operating Days and Dates
Year: 2016 Ship/Facility: Savannah
Optimum Start Date: 2/6/2016 Dates to Avoid: We will discuss with existing PIs and arrange schedule to suit their requirements. Alternate date at Sept 6-7 would be the fallback if the July days are weathered out. In either case, we hope to use the ship when it is in the area already, so no transit days need be added.

Repeating Cruise?
(within same year)
No Interval:   # of Cruises:

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: Because we only used 1 of the 2 days for deployment in 2015, we have the opportunity to piggyback on another cruise (Doug Nowacek/John Kemp, not UNOLS funded) to the area for retrieving the mooring. Because their cruise has been delayed past year's end, we would like to carry the remaining day forward into 2016. We have their permission to add our day and our retrieval activities to their cruise. The target date is early February 2016. We can use any early year dates, excepting Feb 21-27.
