Summary of Field Work: |
Sediment core sampling offshore the northern Channel Islands and offshore Oregon. We will collect one box core and one vibracore from each of ~30 locations in each region. We will alternate sampling at each site. Box cores will be sub-sampled on deck and vibracores will be sectioned and stored on deck for transport at the end of the cruise. The vibracore will be provided by PI Maloney. Water depths will range from ~50-150 m. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Box core, related coring parts & supplies, A-frame & winch for deployment of coring equipment |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
Require box core and associated parts & supplies. PI will provide vibracore equipment. We anticipate vibracore length will be 15 ft (~4.5 m). Seismic surveys using ship's Knudsen profiler or towed Chirp system.
