Summary of Field Work: |
The project will acquire 4,500 km of 2D seismic reflection data along the south central Chile margin. The goal is to acquire deep penetrating seismic profiles to examine the subduction thrust where it has produced great earthquakes. Along with Multichannel data we will acquire multibeam data along with gravity and magnetics data. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We will use the long-offset (up to 15 km) seismic system and 6,600 cubic inch source array available on the R/V Langseth. We will also use the hull-mounted multibeam system and gravimeter and magnetometer. |
