Summary of Field Work: |
The goal is to deploy 9 seafloor geodesy tripods on the continental shelf offsore of Iquique Chile in the northern part of the Chile subduction zone. The exact study area is still being determined based on an 2015 AUV mapping cruise, but could range from 1000m to 4000m water depth. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We require a ship that can support an ROV to install the geodesy instruments properly. The ROV needs to be able to lift and position a tripod that weighs 80-100 kg in water. |
