Summary of Field Work: |
Identify, characterize, and understand the connectivity of vulnerable ecological communities in general and deep-sea coral habitats, in particular. This work will be part of a larger campaign that using a variety of ships and technology, will have direct consequences for 1) identifying, characterizing, and defining connectivity of vulnerable ecological communities, 2) tsunami prediction and hazards for coastal risk and 3) guide wise use of the natural and energy resources. The multiagency campaign draws upon expertise and assets as a cost effective use of sound science and demonstrated technologies to improve predictive capabilities where these vulnerable communities occur. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We will need an AUV or equivalent technology to map and image the seafloor. |
