The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

Summary of Field Work: We propose to collect water for DOC/DIC analysis and optical measurements (CDOM/EEMS) from all stations/depths sampled throughout the cruise. We also plan on collecting large volumes (~10 L samples) for DIC photochemistry experiments back at SkiO.
Summary of Facility Requirements: For DIC photochemistry, we require a full Niskin for each sample (1 surface sample per station) and fridge space for these samples. For the proposed DOC/DIC/CDOM/EEMS survey work, we require <1 L per Niskin bottle, a CTD rosette, and freezer space to store DOC samples for analysis back at SkiO (in 40 mL bottles). Ideally, I will gravity filter (0.2 um) samples directIy from Niskin bottles but can use less if water requirements are high (~40 mL required for DOC, ~20 mL for DIC, and ~10 mL for CDOM/EEMS). We propose to bring a Horiba Aqualog to run CDOM/EEMS at sea, which will require approximately 4 linear feet of bench space. It is best to run optics on fresh samples at sea, but if this is not possible, samples can be stored cold and run at SkiO. Additionally, because we are interested in using results from this cruise in remote sensing models, any optical sensor packages that can be in included (e.g. O2 sensor, Irradiance, CDOM fluorescence, and Chl fluorescence) will be useful data for our project.

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: We would like to sample seasonally from summer - summer at BATS. Proposed dates are June 2017, October 2017, Jan 2018, March 2018, and June 2018. Requesting time here for 2018 cruises. Nick Bates has sent a letter of support for us to participate in 5 BATS cruises, and we are estimating 2 days on station for each cruise.
