Summary of Field Work: |
Hydrographic CTD and sediment trap deployments in Terra Nova Bay Antarctica. We plan to deploy sediment traps and use them as Lagrangian drifters to monitor the fate of a phytoplankton bloom event in Terra Nova Bay. We will perform several CTD profiles every day. Zodiac operations will be required to deploy the trap arrays. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
We request the Nathaniel B. Palmer for our research in Terra Nova Bay. |

Optimum Start Date:
|
12/20/2018 |
Dates to Avoid: |
Terra Nova Bay phytoplankton blooms typically occur in the Dec/Jan time frame. Hence Nov or Feb cruises would be less optimal. But of those two months Feb would be preferable since ocean surface stratification conditions would not be likely in Nov. |
